About me

I am a computational scientist in applied mathematics and physics, currently a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Basel.

For five years I have been developing simulation code for engineering and physics problems — wave propagation, solid–fluid interaction, geophysics, electromagnetics and planetary thermal modelling — in C++, Fortran and Python, from PDE solver design and mathematical validation through to large-scale parallel runs (MPI/OpenMP) on HPC clusters.

Research interests

Numerical methods
  • Finite element methods (FEM)
  • High-order nonconforming polytopal methods (HHO – HDG – dG)
  • Unfitted methods (embedded / immersed)
  • Explicit time integration and local time-stepping
  • Nonlinear PDEs (variable-exponent problems)
  • High-performance computing (MPI, OpenMP, OpenACC)
Application domains
  • Wave propagation (elastic, acoustic, seismic)
  • Geophysics
  • Solid and fluid mechanics
  • Electromagnetics
3D elasto-acoustic waves: a seismic pulse crossing sedimentary layers, an alluvial valley and a granite dome beneath a mountain range, then radiating into the atmosphere.
